Defence Families of Australia were thrilled to finally unveil their seat and plaque recognising
the contribution and dedication of all Australian Defence Families whom support their ADF Member
Classically in challenging Defence Family style, with the rain pouring down, we officially recognised
the DFA seat with VCDF Gillespie & Minister Snowden on Feb 21 08

My Defence Family
As I reflect upon this seat
I give thanks for all that I have
A Mum that stays at home with us
And an Australian Defence Force Dad
Our Family has been all over the place
Because of how hard Dad works
Others often worry for me
But being a Defence Family has its perks!
The Air force always looks after us
Whether in Amberley, Darwin or Perth
My eighth school was in India
And our tenth home is still full of mirth
My Dad’s proud to be an Officer
Surely not as much as me?
He may be away from home a lot
But I know it’s for our liberty
So as I reflect about this seat
On the other Families like me and you
I give thanks for this beautiful country
That they helped make possible too.
